How to use iiimf

Hi, I have trouble using iiimf. Supposedly it was included when I installed the system (Red Hat). But I cant get it to work if the system language is English. If I set it to Japanese, for example, I can input Japanese using 'Ctrl+Space'. But that's the only language I can choose. So how do I get it to work in an English environment? And I want to be able to input other languages as well. I tried to find more instructions on this input method but couldnt find any. I just began to use Linux so a lot of things are foreign to me. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.
