how to store a pixmap image created by gdk programm into a new file in linux


hi,
i have a problem related to pixmap.i have created a pixmap by using Gdk
programming language.
now i want to store the pixmap image into an another file.
don't use Xpm functions.
are there any functions available in linux or GDK or GTK+.
it is an important to my application.so please inform me the solution if u know to hvreddy1110@gmail.com.
if possible send some example source codes or sitenames where i can find the source code related to my query and ur answer.
