If you have it installed, it may not be in your $PATH environment variable.

You can look for it with this command:

Code:
find / -name wget -print
If you don't you'll have to install it. Look at https://www.gnu.org/software/wget/

No joke!

Just a informational post to wget usage and if you do not have it then examples of how to install the utility. Plus additional links within that some members may/will find useful.

As to java, I have no issues with it since I do use FF addons noscript to allow control of visited sites and tracking/popups/malware prevented via adblock. Most sites do track visitors and have adds that support their Internet activity. Some people should get over their phobias by informing or digging for information instead of throwing up FUD.

Not everyone is aware or knows the usage of all the utilities available to a Gnu/Linux and that is why I do post links & information to assist in their growth.

Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

actually i was wondering if i am missing some content because the article just seems so pointless, so i started enabling scripts - but no, there's nothing else.
i bet that blogger has a separate article for every "command not found" error and how to install standard utilities
clickbait if you ask me; and the google-ananlytics certainly confirms it.
no FUD, no paranoia.
just everyday, utterly normal clickbait.

Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

Hi,

I have no problems with your viewpoints but I do believe not everyone has the same level of experiences or knowledge. So information can be provided for those that wish to explore and learn. As to the authors intent of simplification of the original post, I believe he/she has met the intent to inform. Maybe you find it not necessary but others may find it useful since we have no way of knowing other members understandings

As to the FUD, I think that one providing such is only putting up fences or Fears, Uncertainty & Doubt that will just discourage other members from attempting anything.

We as senior members here at LQ should help new members as best as we can. Sure we all should be aware of the issues when visiting sites but as stated there are tools to protect one's surfing to different sites. Common sense should be applied!

Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

It's a fair cop.

However:

you brought up "FUD", not me.
my comment was miles away from anything like that.

Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!
