how to mount a cdwriter

Hi,
The computer says I have to specify the file format type before I can mount to the cdwriter.
What should I do?
When I type mount -t msdos /dev/cdwriter /root/CD
it says cdwriter is write-protected and /dev/cdwriter can't read superblock.
Thanks
Jack

The /proc/filesystems file displays a list of the file system types currently supported by the kernel.

It will help if you post the linux distribution / version you are running. Data CDs use filesystem iso9660 and CDs formatted with DirectCD or InCD use UDF. You can not mount a blank or music CD. Make sure the directory used as a mount point exists. Most distributions typically use either /mnt/cdrom or /media/cdrom for convenience.

So you meant the cdwriter won't work in this scenerio. Because I wanted to transfer my work to home. Thanks

You can use something like XCDroast to burn a normal CD.
UDF requires a 'formatted' disk before it can be used.
