How to Make A Home Theatre Out of Old PC

Hello,

I am looking for information on converting my old Celeron based PC into Home Theater. Sometime back "Linux For You" magazine had published an article on same topic, details as under.

Make A Home Theatre Out of Your Junk PC
Issue: August 01, 2008 Page: 40-42 Author: Arjun Pakrashi

Can anyone please share with me the softcopy of above article or information on how to convert old PC into Home Theater?

Best regards.

Sorry, but I don't think that would be legal. It is a magazine in print, and it has to be purchased and is copyright. So, no, nobody can give you a "soft copy".

What kind of home theater are we talking about ? Somehow I don't think on old Celery, I mean, Celeron processor will cut it ...

we will not be able to give you an illegal copy of it . Also a old celeron " laptop" cpu and i am assuming there is no nvidia 8000 OR BETTER card in it . and has 512 meg of ram will not work well for that .

Hello shantanujs,
You can ofcource get a copy of the article you are requesting. The magazine publishes almost all thg articles under creative commons licence. Instead of the magazine edition of the article i can provide tou with a link of the author's site . Get the article here:

http://phoxis.wordpress.com/2009/02/10/geexbox-11/

This is actually a review of the GeexBox operating system. It has updated a bit since i wrote the review in the mag, but you will be able to get all the information in there. Else there is always the official site.
I think you will like the article. Do let me know if the article helped you. The best will be if you drop a comment in the blog post page.

If you still need a pdf version of the magazine publication you can ask (i think you will not need that).

Best,
Phoxis
