How to keep 2 directory trees synchronised?

I need to keep 2 large directory structures (i.e. more than 200.000 files) residing on 2 different servers synchronised.

I'm interested in two scenarios: master/copy and dual master (i.e. changes can occur in both trees).

Anybody have some ideas about how to do this?

Regards,
Henning

rsync

its been around since the beginning of time, only copies accross the differences, works piped through ssh with authorized_keys so everything is encrypted, it has a few dozen options to keep the perms, the ctimes, delete removed files on the opposite side. It would be really easy to build a simple script for it and then just run that on a cronjob.
