How to intstall GCC on a custom Linux build

Hi
I downloaded a pre-configured linux VM. It works great but it doesn't contain GCC and therefore I cant install on it other important programs I need. It is not a regular distro that has yum or apt.
I tried to install GCC from source but it requires another compiler for its own build process.
How can I solve this issue ?

You can use a host system to compile gcc for your target system. That is what we usually do.
If your system run in a VM, then download some liveCD, tell your VM to boot that iso and chroot to your system to install gcc. Once gcc is installed on your new system, recompile it from itself, maybe 2 times for good measure.
