How-to install unsupported isa device
I'm running redhat 6.2 with kernel 2.2.16smp. I have inserted a 4 module digital to synchro card which has jumpers set to address 0x0400. Each module uses two address locations and the status register is at 0x0408. The card does not have an irq.
Question: Can I create a character device and then use setserial to define each of the devices or do I have to use mmap? I would like the kernel to recognize the card as an independant device so that the application software being developed for the card doesn't care if the memory location is changed as long as the device is kept current in the kernel.
I've read many man pages and how-tos', but there does not seem to describe what I need.
Thank you for any response.
