how to install sound and modem driver in tar.gz file extension in linux 7.3


hi dude


my name is mohdali and i am new in linux i want install sound card and modem card in linux 7.3 i download my drivers through internet
both files extension is tar.gz please tell me how i use this files
and how i install sound card and modem through these file
where i extract these


plesea tell me step by step

use this command :
tar xvzf <fie-name>
After this u can go to directories created upon execution fo these commands and find out if there is any install shell script. OR there might be README files at least.

dude,

tar.gz is a compressed file, kinda like .zip if were talking windows world. probably the easiest way for you to do this is to open your konqueror browser up (thats if your using KDE I'm just guessing) and browse to the file and double click on the file then copy the contents of the tar.gz file into another folder. there s/b a readme or install file that will tell you how to install.

you should probably fill your profile out so people know what distro and version you are running. what distro are you running? Are you using KDE or GNOME?
