Smile how to install redhat linux 8.0


i am planning on to install redhat linux 8.0 and i have windows xp pro> how can i daulboot them.

can i use a boot manager to select windows xp pro or redhatlinux

Yes you can dude. A search on LQ would come with several threads of similar issues.

Tell me, do you have any spare partitions to install linux to? Basically you would need at least two partitions to install linux /(root) and the SWAP partition.

If you don't have free partitions, you'd have to dish out some space from your XP partition. I'd recommend you backup your data first.

okay then installation is a breeze. But why are you interested in RH 8.0 Next came 9.0 and now fedora core 2 is out. Maybe you can try that.

Well installing RH is easy. just pop in the first instalation disk. When it comes to the partitioning screen, choose to manually partition and format two partitions. One as ext3-- this will be root(/) and the other as swap. Swap partition needs to be twice the size of physical RAM. taht is, if you have 128 MB ram, make swap 256 MB.

Next you install on the partition formatted as ext3, that is the /(root) partition. Also follow the link provided above and read some howtos.
