How to get Mousewheel working


I have Microsoft Intellimouse. How do I get the mousewheel to work in Red Hat 7.2?

you should be able to set it up in Xconfigurator, a generic ps2 wheelmouse should be fine

or you should be able to do it manually by adding the line
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
to the pointer section in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

When I run Xconfigurator it does not ask me about my mouse...

By the way, when I look in that file, the Z axis mapping thing is there already.

    Option "Protocol"     "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device"       "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Buttons"      "5"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "5 6"
You might need to have "/dev/mouse" instead of "/dev/psaux"
