How to fixate a DVD

I have a DVD that was recorded from someone's DVD writer. The DVD was not finished, I think that is called fixating. I can watch the DVD on my DVD burner, but not on a regular DVD player.

Is there a way to fixate the DVD while leaving the video already recorded on it intact?

I think you mean finalize. In most cases, you would need to finalize the DVD on the recorder that recorded it (or a different one of the same model). Since you can read the DVD on your pc based drive, you may just want to copy the vobs to your hard drive, then author and burn a new DVD. The one from the recorder should contain a VIDEO_TS folder. Just copy that to your hard drive and use something like DVD Author, DeVeDe, or tovid to create a new DVD from the video files.
