HOW to Find out what process is accessing the HDD

Hello,

I can see that the light of the HDD is flashing. I would like to find out what the process is that is accessing the HDD. Is there a way to achieve this?
Is there a utility that ties up processes with hw resources?

Thanks for reading my question, I hope you have an answer.
