how to dual monitor on laptop using suse 10.3 and lcd monitor 17''/19''?
hi everyone
im having a problem with dual monitoring using my laptop and lcd monitor
im using analog cable(VGA) and i get to see on both screens but its cloned screens
have you tried the activate dual head mode in graphic card and monitor section of yast?
That's the correct answer and there press configuration and it will give you many choices. Yast calls sax2 to do the work. You can get there also by
#sax2
hi everyone
im having a problem with dual monitoring using my laptop and lcd monitor

how do i get extended desktop for dual monitor?
help needed
I'm having the same problem with Fedora, Core 8. I've gone through all the options in display settings, setting it to dual head, but all I'm getting is a cloned desktop. I wasn't sure if the other replies would help me on fedora. I know dual heading SHOULD work, (it did on Vista), and the Intel drivers on Core 8 are meant to be up to date, i.e. I couldn't get an update for them, so I'm a little lost here. Thanks.
then click on <Activate Dual Head Mode>
then click in <Configure> and there you can choose
<Clone Multihead> which is the same in all monitors
<Xinerama multihead> and there you have 4 modes to chose
Those graphic choice are written to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Thanks for your reply. The sax2 thing didn't work, but I edited the Server Layout section as you suggested, turning Xinerama on, and this is the error that was returned in the log:
(WW) intel(0): Direct rendering is not supported when Xinerama is enabled
(EE) intel(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI.
It must be a conflict, which I have no idea how to resolve. "Direct Rendering Infrastructure (DRI) is an interface and a free software implementation used in the X Window System to securely allow user applications to access the video hardware without requiring data to be passed (slowly) through the X server. Its primary application is to provide hardware acceleration of the Mesa implementation of OpenGL. It has also been adapted to provide OpenGL acceleration on a framebuffer console without an X Server running."
So I need it, but its not going to work with Xinerama enabled. Any ideas? Could it just be, that it's not going to work with the intel drivers?
thanks for your replies and sorry about my late responses
well after i did sax2 option changes, doing xinerama option and adjusting resolutions
xorg.conf still shows that xinerama option is off....
what should i do?
