"but whenever I'm ready to install linux, something goes wrong or I get some errors",

ahhh, forget about the errors.

Here's the question:

ok, let's say I have windows xp installed on the entire hard drive, and I want to install redhat 9 on it also. What do I do?

I know this is a very basic question, but I have tried so many things, and they never work. There's probably just a simple step that I always miss. And practically every singe thing I read about how to dual boot said something different than another one.
