How to differentiate between Red Hat 9 and RHEL 4.0

Hi..

Can any one let me know, why we have different terminologies ..

One beginning from Red Hat 7, 8 and 9 while another from RHEL 1, 2, 3 and now 4?

Which is more advance Red Hat 9 or RHEL 4.0 ? and what is the basic difference between the two versions..

Thanks..

Hi,
RHEL4 is the latest version before issuing RHEL5 before about 3 months and surely RH9 is an older version than RHEL4, I didnt work with RH9 but in RHEL4 they support Enterprise works and include more features...

For more more information see www.redhat.com

The Enterprise edition is more advanced.

Red Hat 9 was the last free version, then it became Fedora Core. The Red Hat name is now costly, not free, and has changed a little to reflect the change, Red Hat Enterprise Limited. Pretty hard to be "limited" (Corporate), and also be free.

Redhat 9 doesn't natively support SATA hard drives. You can patch it to add the proper support, but that is useless if you're trying to install the thing.

Answer: Pick a newer distro!
