how to config realplayer for linux system

I'm using Fedora Core-4 with Morzilla.I coud'nt here online music as I did'nt have any music player in my system.Could you help me to configure realplayer in my system?.I have downloaded .bin file on desktop. I have followed instal instructions(bellow) provided by the site.

Install Instructions:

Ensure that the .bin file you downloaded is executable. You can make the .bin file executable by running the "chmod a+x RealPlayer10GOLD.bin" command from a terminal window.

- Run the .bin file by typing "./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin". Follow the prompts provided to finish installing the player.

Unfortunately, when I executed the 2nd command i.e"./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin" from the termina window I got the following message showing "error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".

how to overcome the above?.Please help me out.

Thank you,

you need to install g++

have a look at www.mjmwired.net > resources (the mplayer install notes include installing realplayer.)

Particularily:
Quote:
NOTE: Since RealPlayer is compiled in GCC 3.2 and
FC5 uses and links to GCC 4.1, you will need compat-libstdc++-33 RPM.
This file is found on CD3 of the FC5 disks.
(FC4 compiled with and links to gcc4.0 - so... same thing.)

No you dont need g++. You need compat-libstdc++-33
Realplayer is not a very good player on linux. The better choices are mplayer, mplayerplug-in, and xine.

You might try Streamtuner for internet radio. I use Streamtuner with Xmms and I have all the radio I could want including SHOUTcast and Live365 stations.

ave you been able to install realplayer without g++ being installed? Otherwise - that's what I said.

In what way is realplayer not good in linux (apart from the proprietary licence).

mplayer will play older real formats with the codecs installed but not the newer ones... unless realplayer10GOLD is installed. (This is the only reason for having this installed AFAIK.) Mplayer is great in that it plays anything - however, it is not so hot at playing DVD movies: no menue support.

Personally I play online (indeed, any) music with totem, which comes with fedora. I havn't seen xmms for a while now.
