How to change terminal title
 
ok, I went to my terminal menu > terminal > set title, then renamed it and closed. But it does not save what I entered.
Does anyone know how to do this ?

I am thinking that info is saved in a file somewhere. When I installed ubuntu I miss spelled the title I wanted and it has been bugging me every since.

AFAIK you cannot. This of course will depend on which terminal app you are using, but I think the point of setting the title is to identify different sessions easily, and is not meant to be preserved after closing the term.

If you want to add your title to always appear on all xterms, I think you will find it is source-code hacking time.

Another option is to use your PS1 variable to set xterm titlebar text. See the Bash Prompt HOWTO:
