Hi guys,we have a server which boots by default in GUI mode. My question is how to make it boot in text mode? Thanks in advance.

you probably need to set your default run level.

there will be a line in /etc/inittab that will say something linke

init:4:initdefault:

i dont know red hat but this needs to be changed to 3 on most system to not go gui. alternatively you could disable the rc.script that starts the x server. somewhere in /etc/rc.???. i will get called at whatever is the default run level.

You need to understand run levels in linux/unix, its very important....
