How they say a distro is cool
Hello everyone. How do people say a distro is cool .I don't find anything cool in slackware.I did teach me how to connect to internet and I learned some commands :D.Sorry if i were wrong and I welcome anyone to show the path of how to learn a linux inside out.
Thankyou |
You are on wrong path then. Calling something cool or not is personal choice. I do not know what to call cool in the first place. I may call Ubuntu to be cool as well. And as for teaching commands, most of the distributions share same set of commands. Those that are distribution specific and desktop environment specific are different. And may be some other minor stuff may differ. I would be happy if you define cool. One of my female friend calls Snoop Dog cool. But I call him a idiotic criminal.

You are welcome but your question is still vague. You may want to comment more on that to let us know more.

You can "learn inside out of linux" with any distro. Try a few, choose the one that suits you best, ignore other peoples' opinions and whether it's regarded as "cool" or not.
|
On larry's scale (which is awesome by the way) I would rate linux 75, and a 100 for my girl ;)
|
I think Larry's scale is based on Age... It's not a score, or I may have misunderstood.
|
Thank you all for your replies.
I think you totally are off the question or my question is ridiculous. I think I will learn linux after I use it for long time like programming.:) |
Want a cool distro to teach you in and out? Try this.
When and if you do it, please provide a link to iso image. Good luck! |

But it doesn't matter if you do it after 2, 3, or 5 years, what does matter is that you do it right! OK, hope to see that iso! Take care! |

Nice to know that there are people still wanting to make distros. Sorry for derailing the thread. The question was too good to not answer.
I think the OP will do it. The thing here is he shows patience and will and that is what is needed here. I would suggest the OP to never give up - specially if he intends to work on lfs for even 5 years if that is needed. I wish you all the best. In case you run into issues please post back so that even we can learn and understand. It is great that there is competition here and that is the motivation. Best of luck to the both of you. |
Competition going backwards. I am not competing whos going to complete it earlier. Rather who takes more time. :D

To answer the OP's question, just about any distribution will provide plenty of educational opportunities. It is largely a matter of preference.
IMO, a good distro to use would be Debian, you can dig in as deeply as you desire. HTH Dave |
