How could i logg in at my friends linux box if
i dont have the pass, iknow the username its "root" how could i logg in to it ???? he dont have a firewall and many ports is open telnet SSH ftp all... thx help me... |
um, hate to break it to ya, ace.... but linux is a secure OS and just knowing the username doesn't mean sh*t. and EVERY *nix box has a root user. so really you have absolutely no information to work with.
i suggest you do a little reading before asking a question like that. unless, of course, you meant something completely different. oh, and please please PLEASE don't use a subject line of "Linux". of course this thread is going to pertain to linux.... that's what the forum's about. :-P |
edit: thread title.

Linux is as secure as the admin secures it. Default settings on security are partly based on the distribution - like Astaro has different settings than RedHat as default, etc!
Anyways, any distribution can be secured! |
aaronluke,
If you got into your friends computer without a password, I personally would be telling my friend this, if I was in your situation. Unless your friend wants it that way. Cause most distro's come by default with no remote root access on any services they use. I have my servers/workstations where root only has access physically at the machine. The only way usually to gain any sort of access with no real password would be thru an anonymous FTP server in most cases. What exactly did you do to gain access with no password ? You explain some ports are open, but how did you get in without a password ? |
