How long before Speedstep-Centrino gets yanked from the kernel.

Does anyone know how long the Speedstep-Centrino module will remain in the kernel? For the time being I am needing it for processor scaling as acpi-cpufreq doesn't work on my laptop (Dell Latitude D400). I am in the process of trying to patch the dsdt table in hopes of getting acpi-cpufreq working. So far I have had no luck. I have a test kernel getting compiled with my latest dsdt change.

You can read the Linux Kernel Mailing List to keep abreast of what the changes are to the kernel at
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/li...nel/index.html

That may at least give you a heads up if it is going to disappear.

Coordially,
