How do you hide your IP in Linux?

I have a lot of information on my computer that I would not like to get out to hackers and so forth, and I am wondering if there is a way to hide my ip address when surfing the web via Mozzila or one of it's similiar counterparts.

It's not about hiding your IP, but getting set a firewall.
As long as you have a network card, a modem or a loopback (ok not so bad) you will have an IP.

Promiscuous networking might be of _some_ help, but I couldn't find any documentation on the subject.(I needed it sometime in the past for a not-so-good purpose)

I'd agree. Security through Obscurity is bad practice to make or think your machine is secure. Maybe I can suggest reading some of the links to security sites and such in this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=45261
