how do I use a Wacom Graphire II usb tablet with Mandrake 8.2?

I just got a Wacom Graphire II tablet which I was hoping to use with my PC running Mandrake 8.2 (download edition). From what I'd read in the ads for LM 8.2, it is supposed to include full support for the Wacom Graphire, however when I plugged the tablet in the LED on the tablet lights up but nothing else happens - neither X nor The Gimp take any notice at all of the Wacom pen or mouse.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get my Graphire II working with LM 8.2 download edition?

TIA,
-Jules Verne
(no, not the real one!)
