How do i upgrade apache websever in linux machine

Dear All,
How do i upgrade Apache webserver in Linux machine.
the reson is given below

while trying to install servlet engine(ApacheJServ-1.1.1-1.i386.rpm) in the linux server(redhat 7.2)
I got the message like this "1.3.12 and >= version in needed "

so pls help me what should i do?.. should i upgrade the Apache?.

because any way I have to install the servlet engine(ApacheJServ-1.1.1-1.i386.rpm)..

u can simply download that from apache.org as a tar.gz. install is easy. probably there are various versions available. i`d take 1.3.xx rather than 2.0.xx cause i heard of some difficulties in running it with other software/modules but i´m not sure about that. install is easy especially if u don´t have specific intentions with the apache. follow the install and post if sth don´t work.

Get the apache 1.3.12 rpm from www.rpmfind.net ( rpm blah! ) and do this as root

rpm -Uvh apache-1.3.12.rpm

Then its must be ok.
