How Do I "Restart X Window System"?
 
Hey guys, I have no clue how to do this, as today is basically my first day ever using linux...Im really knowlodgable w. hardware and windows tho, but anyways...can someone tell me how to do this?


Thanks if anyone can hell me out...

It definitly depends on which X are you using,, maybe KDE or GNOME?
anyway everyone has a button to do it, just the same as windoz

Usual, easy way:
CTRL ALT BACKSPACE
this will restart your X server, usually.

Whilst CTRL ALT BACKSPACE will restart your X server if X starts on boot (runlevel 5), a CTRL ALT BACKSPACE will drop you out of X and *won't* restart automagically if you use a text login rather than graphical (runlevel 3).

It's easy enough to restart X from text though - startx will sort you out. :)
