how do i make RH9 and SuSe 9.1 talk to each other?

i have only just figured out how to make samba work in its most basic ability to share files with winXP, now i am atm reinstalling winXP (to change several things and just because i can) and then right behind that (not going to patch tonight) i am going to install SuSe 9.1 .

this is to play around with the newer kernal, and see how well it runs compaired to XP on the exact same hardware.

i would like the ability to make my rh9 box talk with my suse box. what steps do i need to take for this to happen?

is this something in samba, is it something different, etc...

thanks for the info and heads up.

if you are wanting to know here is the hardware that will be running xp/suse

P4 2.4G 800Mhz FSB
Asus P4P800 Deluxe MB with sATA RAID 0/1
ATI 9500 128M
1G pc3200 kingston RAM
Seagate 80G sATA HD

using the onboard sound and NIC. the sound is very good quality, and the NIC is a nice 10/100/1000

i also have IDE 54X cdrom and a 48x32x24 (IIRC) CDRW no DVD, that is next.

I think you're supposed to use NFS and stuff for this, but you can use Samba as well. If they both think they're Windoze machines, it works fine.

Configure Samba server on both, and access with Samba as usual.
