How do i install linux!??!?

Hi,

This is a really dumb question and its been asked before, i think. I already have Suse installed on my other computer but i want it on this computer too. I pop the cd in and the autorun doesnt start. I go to bios and change the boot sequence to cdrom first and floppy and then hd0.

It doesnt load it. What im i doing wrong?? W/ my other computer i just popped in the first cd of Suse and that was it. The wizard just came up. Not here though. I dont see any "setup.exe" or anything on the cd(i know..its not supposed to) but is there any manual way to start it??

Please help.

My system:

INTEl PIII 800 mhz
394mb ram
40gb hd
no os installed as of now.

There should be a directory on the first CD that contains boot floppy images that you can use RAWRITE.EXE (not copying!) or in Linux the dd command to create boot floppies that will allow you to start the installation process if your system doesn't support booting from the CD.

found it but how many floppies is it going to make? I did it and it made one. Then i booted and it said "unknown keyboard in suse.cfg" about 100 times and then "loading" and then "boot failed"

Hmm...

Check that disk. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bad disk.

Ok the bootdisk works and the gui installer comes up but it asks for the next disk called "module 1" or something like that. What do i do?

Look for any README files.

Then maybe you need to make another disk called module-1?
I don't know for sure, as I don't use SuSe.

I don't use Suse either, but there should be a collection of image files in the same directory as you found the boot floppy. It's a one-to-one thing. Each image will occupy one disk. So, if you have enough disks, just go ahead and use rawrite to make all the disks they have images for.
