Well, thats it - Welcome to Linux.

What distribution are you using?

You may need to install or configure X before being able to run a gui. In anycase try typing `startx` and pressing enter. If the command is not found then you need to install X and some GUI apps. If it trys to launch an X session, but then returns you to a prompt with some errors then you need to configure X, or maybe install some graphics drivers. If it works then great.

Looks like you've successfully logging in. Congratulations!

Take a look at the Linux Documentation Project (www.tldp.org). They have lots of docs and HOWTOs about where to go from here.

In particular, take a loot at

http://www.tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/html/index.html

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Unix-and-I...WTO/index.html

http://www.tldp.org/LDP/gs/gs.html (though this one is rather old)

http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Bash-Beginne...tml/index.html will give you an introduction to the shell.

You probably want to run X, you'll need to (install and) configure it first (XFree86 -configure), but your distro may have some way to do this (Suse uses sax and so on).
