How do I get mail from KMail into Netscape?

Greetings All!

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to import/copy/move/??? my mail folders in KMail into Netscape's mail. I see where it can/could import Outlook, Outlook Express, & Eudora. Hopefully there is a way to bring in others...

It looks like Netscape's mail may be a bit better. Plus I like the idea of working in a fairly integrated application for mail/newsgroups/browsing.

Just copy the contents of ~/Mail (Kde's mail folder) to ~/nsmail (Netscape's folder)

This assumes that you don't have any mail in the Netscape folder at the moment.

If that's not the case, rename the kde files (in a separate directory of course) to something like this

.inbox.index -> .kinbox.index
.sent-mail.index -> .ksent-mail.index
...

And do the others

inbox -> kinbox
sent-mail -> ksent.mail
...

You only have to do this if you already have Netscape mail.

Backup both directories before you start. It's not like this is a supported procedure... :)

I just tried it out here so I know that it works (kmail uses the same format as Netscape so there's nothing to convert)

Or, if you have not already got a netscape mail folder, just change the default netscape mail folder to be your old kmail folder.
As rootboy said, the formats used are the same, so there will be no problems.

Well, duh... I didn't even think to see if you could do that... :)

:p

and if you're dual booting with windows, you can make your windows (netscape) mail directory your linux netscape mail directory.

<sarcasm>oh! the possibilties!</sarcasm>
