How do I boot to runlevel3 from GRUB ?
 
How do I boot to a runlevel from grub???
I need to get to runlevel3
I have a Mandrake8.1 fresh install I need to disable a service that's stopping me from booting to X
I've been at it hour's.
Any ideas anyone???

when your already logged in, you can give the command init 3, it should reboot you to runlevel 3 that way..

Thanks for the answer trickykid but the problem was I wasnt logged in, it was a f****d up install & it never did actually log me in.
I'm in the middle of re-installing now for the 3rd time today.

i bet you hate to here this now but next time I would use the mandrake install cd to go to rescue mode. then do chroot /mnt/sysimage and then you can fix things. That's what you can do in red hat at least.

I had a few unnecessary reinstalls when i was starting out don't get discouraged.
