How can I write to a folder on my Windows partition?

Hey gang,

I am dual booting WinXP and Suse 9.3

When in the Suse environment, I can see my Windows partition, and I can retrieve files from the folders and bring them over to the Linux side. But, I would like to be able to write, that is, copy files and folders from my Linux partition over to the Windows side.

I apparently do not have the right permission settings on the Windows folder that I'd like to write to. Any idea on how I can give the folder write permissions?

Many thanks!

This gets asked a lot. The simple answer is that support for writing to NTFS is still very much experimental, and there's a good chance that trying to write to an NTFS partition will trash it. This thread has a lot of information.

but he FAT file systems are writable by Linux, so if you setup a different partition with FAT, you can use it to copy/write files to/from windows
