Doesn't ( -v ) work for you?
For example:
Code:
rsync -vP rsync://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/fedora/linux/core/4/i386/iso/FC4-i386-disc* .

I didn't know about it; is there maybe a more general program? Ideally something, that would report, that i am downloading from this location, with this speed, using this protocoll-FTP, HTTP,rsync, etc.

I also use wget.
For example:
Code:
wget -cm -nH --passive --cut-dirs=9 \
ftp://mirror.dulug.duke.edu \
/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/3/en/os/i386/SRPMS

For that you can use the " --progress " option with your existing rsync command.

After that you can see the live speed of your downloads.
