How can i portage Linux from computer with Celeron proc to computer with Pentium 166?
I had installed RedHut Linux 7.2 on computer with processor Celeron(precompiled kernel for 686 type was select). And now I need to portage it to computer with processor Pentium 166. At linux boot time my computer reset. How can I add new kernel for 386 processor type?
Is there a reason why you can't do a fresh install on the P166? If the kernel is for the 686 arch, I expect most of your programs were also compiled for this arch. You may run into more difficulties than you expect.
I would suggest install new on the P166 and then transfer what ever config files you need from the old system.

Rep:
you could just try the i386,i486,or i586 kernel for that
distro, and give it a shot. unless you used specific
i686 flags, or redhat did, the software will just be optimized
for a 686, but would still run on older stuff.
