How can I have Sun solaris,linux,win2k on a pc athe same time?

Would you pls tell me how to have sun solaris,linux,win2k on a pc at the same time.I need to have these 3 for some reasons.

Easiest and safest way is to buy three disks (20Gb are only about $60 now) and do three installs. If you load linux last, you can use Grub as your boot menu to select which OS to boot up in.
You can also use Win2K as a boot menu , but I am not as familiar with it.

There are also other boot menu programs like System Commander...etc.

At one time I had winNT, linux and Solaris on three different disks without a problem.

You can do it on multiple partitions, but I found that just added more difficulty for me.
With three different disks, you just tell each OS install program to use a different disk. Then, if you save Linux for the last installation, the GRUB or LILO setup will ask you to name each disk (/dev/hda , /dev/hdb , /dev/hdc for a name for each OS) I am using linux IDE drives as an example.

for help on multi-OS installations. There are two mini-HOWTO's devoted to multi-OS using linux GRUB and Lilo. They talk about linux, windows, and os2, but you can substitute Sun OS easily enough.

The book came out in 2000, but there probably are others.
I would check Amazon and search on "multi OS" or something like that.

Here's how I am doing it.
I have 20 gb disk.

I installed 2000 first on 6 gig. Then I installed solaris on 6gig. They have there boot manager. Then finally I installed linux on 8gb. And am using lilo to boot works cool.

Unfortunately I haven't succeed in setting up these OSs yet.My problem is actually with linux and Sun Solaris configuration, not with win2k
Let me explain more about what is exactly my problem.

1-I tried first to install linux (red hat7.1) on my 40G hard with no partitions .On linux fdisk I was able to create partitions (ex. 4G linux native and 200 M linux swap) and I left the rest of hard space,unpartitioned so that I could handle it in solaris.Every thing was ok until I started to install solaris.it told me there wasn't any solaris specified partition to install the software in, so I used its fdisk to create one more partition besides the other two that I'd created for linux.I did it without problem I mean I could create a 5G partition of solaris type,but when I wanted to exit from fdisk it told me that there was an overlap on cylinders.But I was sure that there wasn't....So my first try failed...

2-this time I tried to setup sun solaris first and every thing was ok,but as soon as I started to setup linux, it told me "linux fdisk error.Partitions do not end on cylinder boundery.This occurs because the drive geometry detected by the kernel used by the installer is different than the drive geometry used when the drive was partitiond.This can be corrected by specifying the drive geometry on the kernel command line when booting the installer....".

2 of those are for servers and people pissed off at windows, the windows one is for games that is the only thing it could be used for..... is this like your only computer or something?

I've noticed a fair bit recently where members asking questions have been almost attacked for wanting to do certain things. in this instance I get the impression that that this member thinks it is illegal to install solaris on the same machine as linux... It's is entirely up to the user in question what operating systems they wish to install, and are also able to keep whatever reasons they have to themselves. there are MANY reasons to want linux and solaris on the machine. unix is NOT some lame underground movement to stick two fingers up to micro$oft. Unix has been around some 15 years longer than any form of micro$oft OS and they exist for a real reason. Unix powers most of teh internet and business in the world and they all operate differently using different standards, software and such and have strengths and weaknesses and so forth. For a newbie user to accuse an advanced user of being wrong is pretty shortsighted and rude in circumstances such as the ones i have seen recently. thanks

ok, i've zero experience of installing solaris... but well... can you not physically create the partitions for solaris within linus and then change the partition type and format it during your solaris installation? that way the boundaries and such will be defined by linux so they shoudln't complain, and then you can create the filesystem itself in solaris. i suppose you can create the solaris fs in linux too, but i'd presume it'd be best to create it in solaris itself. generally though it would possibly be best to put linux on last as redhat is usually pretty good at configuring lilo.

i would suggest the seperate drive optino again tho... it's a nice way to do it really, and makes all the data much more seperate... but there's no reason you couldn't get them all on one though.

mimi you do have choices. you can use vmware to run virtural
machines on your computer. I use mandrake 8.1 and have just
installed vmware this past weekend. I have installed win xp pro
on it. It runs in its own virtural machine and if I have a problem
with it it wont crash my system as windows does sometimes.
you can download it at www.vmware.com and try it for 30 day
after that you have to register it. Just thought you might like another option to try
