how access windows programs from linux?
Hi,
I've windo$ and linux installed in 2 partitions of my PC. From the linux partition i want to run the windows programs installed. What is the best way to do this? It's using a VNC program to access the windows desktop? Thanks, Pedro |
ehm...your question isnt clear.
if you meant you want to access windows computers, not your windows on the same partition, you could use vnc. download vnc for linux. if you meant you wanted to run windows programs, you would want to install wine. you cant just run it off your windows hdd. if you meant you wanted access your windows files you would want to mount the hdd using ntfsmount available at linux-ntfs.org phew.. |
1- I'm sorry if my question wasn't clear. In my hdd, i've 2 partitions, one with linux and other with windows. I want to know if there is a way to start windows OS from the other partition of hdd inside linux.
When i talk using VNC, i was wondering if i could use VNC with the address 127.0.0.1. But, probably, is just me dreaming. :p But, with vmware is it possible to do what i want? Anyway, if there is a way, please answer. If not, nevermind. 2- Now, i extend my question with the following. And, if i can access windows partition from linux, can i run with wine programs installed in the windows partition? I know that the answer is, "try to know if this is possible". But, i don't have time to do it right away. This is why, i'm asking. Thanks, Pedro |
Yes, you can run windows inside linux using vmware, very much possible.
No, you cant run programs already installed on a windows partition using wine. |
Thanks for the answer.
