binaries in Linux usually don't have an extension like .exe ....

If you are referring to running winDOHs-programs
in Linux: you can try Wine or VMWare (bucks :})

Generally you can find an equivalent for most computing needs
that's a Linux-program, though...

Cheers,
Tink

Welcome to LInuxquestions.org, xtreme3232.

Did you download it? (Was it free?) The next thing which should be your top priority is for you to rush out and spend money.

Yes, you heard right. If the bookshops open Saturday, go and buy a book on Linux. Redhat 8.0 is a (nearly) enterprise ready OS. And it's not windows - it's not even designed like windows and wont execute exe files natively.

Have a look at http://linux.tucows.com and freshmeat.net - they have lots of software you can download for free! (free is always nice).

But seriously, buy that book, and use the search function on this site. And welcome to the revolution

Bert

I installed Linux (Rh 7.0 ) from 2 CDs that came free with a book roughly worth 3$ (some 150 Rs in Indian currency). It had everything about installing LiNUX and about maintaining it (even something about Questions on LiNUX help websites). The book was 'teach Ur self LiNUX in 24 hours'
