help with repositorys

i want to add packages.Debian.org to my sources.list

i keep trying deb http://packages.debian.org/stable/ etch/ main contrib
but it dosent work
so can some one please help me

deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/pub/debian etch main contrib

You are not trying to use that on an Ubuntu system, I hope?
