Help with partitioning

I'm posting this for a friend who had a question about partitioning. He has one hard drive right now, and wants to dual boot Ubuntu and XP. That's the easy part though He also wanted to set up a 3rd partition on the same drive as a "storage partition" to be seen by both OS's. Is this something that can be done? I've looked all over the place, but I haven't found anything on it. Hopefully one of you guys could help me out, I'd appreciate it immensely!

Thank you,

Jason

Easy - use vfat. Both systems will have native write support, nothing more to do.
So long as any files are less than 4 gig ...

Use part of the hdd for windows and leave the rest empty
then create a FAT32 Partiton, still leave something free.
At last install ubuntu.
Use the Fat32 partiton as share.
This is what I would recommend.
