Help with mouse

Hi guys,

I am having a bit of a problem with my mouse ...hope someone can help me.

I have suse 9.3 running on my thinkpad t21... my built in trackpoint mouse used to work prefectly fine untill i added my usb wireless mouse ... since then whenever i switch on the computer (without the usb mouse plugged in) i see the mouse cursor but i does not response ....

... everytime i have to go to yast>hardware>mouse and then select the mouse n hit apply for it to work ....

any ideas as to what might be wrong ??? i even removed the usb mouse using SaX but still the same thing happens ??

any help wuld be appreciated , thanks
ankit

Your mouse settings are specified in the text file /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Remove the part pertaining to your USB mouse, and that should solve your problems.

hey rjwilmsi,

i checked the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf and it has only 1 entry for my mouse ... ps/2 think mouse which is right ... there is no entry for the usb mouse.

also i have another question.

since the file xorg.conf is owned by the root ... that means i cannot have different mouse settings for the root and another user right ??

thanks
ankit
