Help with choosing a Distro!

A personal comment... don't let your mom have your Root password... its better that way. Even if it is her computer and she has consented to having linux on it, unless she knows what she's doing don't run X as root and dont let anyone have the root password unless they know what they're doing. Your system will last a lot longer that way. Also, Mandrake is pretty nice to install, its friendly etc... right now I'm switching to BSD to play with on my 2nd HD so we'll see what happens there.

Congrats! Have fun with it. When you get bored you can always try another distro!

I'm bout to play with RedHat, my start with FreeBSD didn't go well for some reason, I'll try it again eventually but probly should do slackware first :-p
