HELP: QTparted says There was a problem with mkfs.ext3

I am trying to use QTparted and create a 5GB ext3 partition. However it keeps on saying:

There was a problem with mkfs.ext3


Why?

PS: Am using Knoppix 5.0.1 CD and trying to install Knoppix onto hard drive.

I would suggest that you try to use parted instead. Everything you need to know is in the man page. It seems easier to get things to work properly with parted.

Never had much luck using the partitioning tools that come with Knoppix.

I suggest trying to use GParted LiveCD.
