Help my desktop has disapeared!

I've run into a strange problem, I logged out of my machine (mandrake 8.2) last night and when I logged back on today, the icons on my desktop have disapeared. All the files are still there though. Another oddity is that I have seperate wallpaper for my four desktops, however it only is displaying the first one. Any ideas on why this is happening?

no idea whats happening but a quick fix would be to make new icons and select new wallpapers ehhe

but on a serious note, actually do what i said, and see if it happens again...you never know you coulda did something weird before you left your machien last night, even though you don't think you did...

your preferences got partially reset somehow..

I had that happen on KDE with gentoo before and I had to reconfigure it all again

Usually the file manager controls the desktop icons. Launch the file manager and see what happens.
