Help me sleep: MAKEDEV /dev/scd0-

Hi all,

I'm trying to get a combo CD,DVD,CDRW working on a Mandrake 9.0 Linux machine. But when I try to create the new device, /dev/scd0, by doing a 'MAKEDEV scd0' the command wants to put a minus sign at the end of the device descriptor.

Now, personally, I really don't care if there's a minus sign or not. But I don't know if I need to include or exclude this special little charcter when adding the alias line in the /etc/modules.conf and /etc/lilo.conf for startup module initialization.

I'm certain that there's a special Linux guru out there that has a depth of device knowledge that I'll only dream of having, someday. Your help would allow me to not only sleep tonight, but burn cd-roms.

Thanks!!
