Does anyone know how to recover files that were accidently removed? I somehow created a file with the name \ and when I attempted to remove it it deleted all the files in my directory. so so .

I no longer need the files anyway so you can disregard....however if anyone does have an answer I'd love to know what it is.

First. IMPORTANT! Don't write anything to the disc. Safest way is to switch off the PC.
Second. Get a Linux Live CD (e.g. KNOPPIX)and use file recovery software to try and rescue your files. Put the rescued files on an external disc to avoid overwriting the un-recovered files.

EDIT: Ah well, you replied while I was typing.
