Hardware problem I can't find.

I have this computer that has some type of hardware problem that I can't find. When I try to install linux ( I have tried Linspire, Suse, and Mandriva) I get the first screen of the install and go to an infanite black screen. If I take my harddrive out and put it in another computer, the install disk will run. Windows will install just fine. Is there a diognostic program that I can run on windows to tell me what I need to do to fix this? I not a window fan. I am really a mac person but have inhearated a couple of PCs that I am excited about running linux with.

What kind of onboard or graphics card does it have? I may just be a graphics problem. You can try installing in text mode. Most times just boot without framebuffer. When you first start the install you can select what type of install you want.
