hard drive space is not being reported correctly

heres the deal: i'm running mandrake 9 on a 30 gb harddrive

i have 15 GB ext2 partition that is mounted as 'ftp' (using it to host a ftp server with proftpd)

so i'm going along and filling up /ftp/ when suddenly i'm out of space, and i've only used about 2 gigabytes.

proftpd and konqeror both report that its out of space when its obviously NOT. i played around with it in diskdrake, but there does not appear to be anything wrong with the drive.

is there anyway to fix this, with or without re-formatting?

Are you certain that the actual partition is being used? I had something like this a while back, and it turned out that although I had set a partition aside and it was full really quickly because it wasn't actually being mounted, and the / partition was being used... check your /proc/mounts

You can do... might want to read up on fstab/mount options.
