hard drive space, available

I tried to do a search on this topic but I am horrible at doing searches. My problem is that I want to know how much space is left on a particular partition on my redhat 7.2 box.

I usually just use 'df -h'

Have a look at the man pages for it with 'man df' or 'info df'.

thanks for the fast reply
well i was trying the LFS install and well I ran out of room. I followed what they said to do but that didn't exactly work. Have to go about it a different way this time.

If you are doing an LFS yhen you should keep all the packages as bz2 files. Only unpack one package at a time. And after you have compiled and installed the package you can remove the complete source tree of that package. Then go on to the next package.
If you follow that procedure then you should have enough space for the suggested size. I think all these things are mentioned in the first few chapters of the LFS book though.

I just created a larger partition this time. I figured it was easier that way instead of having to upack all of them one at a time as I went through.
