Had to restart Linux for cdrecording or using audio
Hi folks,
Was I did is the following: I added myself to the group audio and the group burning, and I made the audio devices (/dev/dsp, /dev/mixer etc.) readable and writable for the group audio and made also the cdrecording programms (cdrecord, cdrdao) writeable and /dev/scd0 readable and writeable for the group burning. No problem, but in both cases, I had to restart my computer (which I don't like:() before it worked. Probably, I just have to restart some services on this debian distro. Anyone knows which one? Hello Hendrik. You don't need to actually restart the computer, but your group membership is read and updated as you log in, so you only need to log out and then log in again.
Verify the changes by typing the groups command (as yourself, not root) before and after your group membership changes. Håkan |
