Hacking linux?

This most liekly this is a complete nub question, but here it goes. Ok, when I read about peoples' distros choice, they often have different ones for differnt things. For example i read one where the guy was like for hacking i prefer gentoo,..then went on. And on slashdot.org i sometimes read about hacking knoppix or what have you. What is this meant by hacking? I am assuming it is not being used in the manner, hacking a computer or data base from a remote computer/station. Just curious.

There are 2 kinds of hackers. Media Hackers and Real Hackers. Media Hackers are Crackers. They are the ones who break into data systems and networks and really don't care about the damage they cause. Real Hackers do cool stuff with computers. To find out about being a real hacker, read the hacker how-to above.
